The residents

Nathalie Dallies

A fresh start (15-day independent residence)

Nathalie, originally from the Gers, has always been fascinated by the landscape and nature, and this has always guided her professional and personal choices. She devotes herself to agro-ecology, and her university skills in geography are particularly beneficial in this field.

Her encounters with Hervé Covès, agronomist and philosopher, and Gilles Clément, gardener and landscape architect, have enriched her perspective on the living world and the art of landscape composition.

Her residency at Montfaucon has enabled her to reflect on her commitment to human endeavour – creating, nourishing and living – and to preserving our natural, shared and vital heritage. Her skills in graphic design and the plastic arts have nurtured these deep aspirations and supported her new professional drive.

Barry Smith

English and geographer (15-day independent residence)

Originally from England, near London, Barry has published two books, including The Island, published by Saraband, which has been widely acclaimed by the press, including award-winning British author and climber Jim Perrin.

The book has been translated into Chinese and has been the subject of a doctoral thesis. The illustrations are by her brother, Pete Smith, a well-known painter.

To obtain his second book, Where sea and mountain meet, a traveller’s tales, please contact me.

Barry is currently working on a third book, which he was invited to write at “La Résidence d’Écriture du Faucon” writing residency.
